Mucus cocoon
The parrot fish does not have many natural predators. It's only predators are the moray eel and of course the reef sharks. The moray eels mostly hunt at night when the parrot fish is usually sleeping. So you might think that because the parrot fish is asleep it is easy prey for the eel but you would be wrong. This is because the parrot fish sleeps in a mucus cocoon. It makes this cocoon from it's own mucus the
mucus comes from special mucus glands in the gills. The cocoon helps mask the parrot fishes scent so predators cannot find them or harm them when they are
resting. Also it stops the parrot fish from being attacked by small bloodsucking
parasites. No other fish does anything like this so this.
